I really did hear a former parish priest of mine say that to someone. They were asking for directions to the church. He promptly asked them where they lived, and then uttered those immortal words, “O, I wouldn’t start from there!”
Sometimes, we feel we have gotten ourselves stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time, or we feel that we should be further along the road to maturity, a rich spiritual and emotional life, a, “What have I been doing all these years” kind of feeling. We wish we were in a better place to start asking the real questions.
At other times, we just feel grateful for where we have been, but now just think, “It’s time to move on.”
What is God saying to us at those times? What is really behind those movements in our lives, and are we being encouraged by someone to look for something (or someone)?
Would you like to be part of a group of people witnessing to God’s love in prayer and action?
If you want to start a new chapter in your life’s story, please join me on Ash Wednesday, 17th February, at 7.30 pm on Facebook Live (see more info here) for our first session on Who is Christ?
You can also catch up later on Facebook or our website.
If you do, you may well have the beginnings of an answer to what the next step in your life might be. A life which might be more fulfilling and energising. Or you might just get a little bit of affirmation that you are going in the right direction.
You come to faith, life, the church from where you are, with God and with others.
I would start from there!
