150 Years +
This year we shall celebrate 150 years of the blessing of the present St Fillan’s Church (completed in 1871).
In two years’ time, we shall celebrate 100 years since the dedication of the Parish Hall as a Memorial Hall to the fallen of the First World War, and the 110th Anniversary of the opening of St Margaret’s.
These are significant dates in our parish history and a chance to rededicate ourselves to the mission of the Church.
This is particularly apt when we enter properly the synodal process
and emerge from two very difficult years.
We have so much to be thankful for and to look forward to.
Canon Tom will plan with the Parish communities how we best build for our future as we give thanks for the past.
One event for your diary would be the 1st of November this year, Solemnity of All Saints, when Bishop Stephen will join us for a solemn mass to give thanks for the building of the present St Fillan’s.
Let's start this process this Wednesday on the Feast of St Fillan.
Please pray for
the repose of the souls of Bill Pennycook, Tony Gill, James Adams, Katherine McGrillis, Patrick and Bridget O’Donnell, Sheena O’Donnell, Nora Wood, Vincent Anthony Harvey, Hannah McInally, Mary Glenister, Bill and Kathy Kay, Kay Poppleton, and all the faithful departed.
