Apologies for the interruption in broadcast Masses over the last week. We think we have resolved the issues. Part of the problem, we suspect, is interference from mobile phones on the mobile router which we use, causing it to slow down. Mobile phones are very clever at automatically logging on to networks, and this may have contributed.
Children’s Mass
Our next Mass for children and young families is on Sunday October 2nd at 11 am
Visitors’ Group
Many thanks to this group and all who visit the housebound and sick. There is a meeting of the Visitors’ Group at 7 pm on Tuesday 20th September in St Fillan’s Hall.
Scottish National Pilgrimage and the relics of St Bernadette 25th
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Carfin Grotto. To celebrate, the relics of St Bernadette are due to be brought to Carfin in September. The Mass to celebrate the National pilgrimage is on Sunday 25th September at 3 pm. The bus, FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PUT THEIR NAME DOWN, will leave at 1 pm from Ford Road (time TBC).

Benches in St Fillan’s
As some of you will be aware, the benches in St Fillan’s are being lovingly restored after the ravages of time and the recent cleaning regime prescribed during the pandemic. The cost of each bench being refurbished is around £340. If you would like to contribute to this, perhaps in memory of a loved one, please speak to Canon Tom. A plaque could be tastefully affixed to the bench.
Registration of all children for First Holy Communion and Confirmation
All parents of children who would be due to celebrate their First Holy Communion or Confirmation are asked to register their child with Canon Tom in writing (email or on paper with a contact) before the end of October of this year.
PPC Meeting: there will be a meeting for members of the Parish pastoral Council on Monday 24th October. Parishioners are kindly reminded that this is not an open meeting for all parishioners just to turn up. Only members of the PPC who have been specifically asked by Canon Tom to serve are invited to attend this meeting.
Celebrating 150 Years Plus
This year, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the blessing of the present St Fillan’s Church. The parish is, of course, 223 years old and is one of the oldest established parishes in Scotland. We have a series of events to mark the occasion.

Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
And for Matt Lunardi, Eleonora Grugiel, Margaret Boyle, and all the faithful departed.
