Children’s Mass

Our Mass for children and young families is today (Sunday) October 2nd at 11 am.

Broadcast Masses

From now on, the Vigil Mass and the 11 am Mass ill be broadcast on our YouTube channel in the hopes that there is continuity in service. For some reason, Sundays seem to be problematic in terms of connectivity.

Readers and Welcomers

Thanks to those who have volunteered. Volunteer forms will be available soon. There are plenty of openings for altar servers too. Canon Tom would like to welcome new lay ministers after the October break with a session in the hall and the church.

Benches in St Fillan’s

The benches in St Fillan’s are being lovingly restored after the ravages of time and the recent cleaning regime prescribed during the pandemic. The cost of each bench being refurbished is around £340. Our sincere thanks to those who have already donated, it is very much appreciated. We also have a couple of pledges; thank you!

All and any donations of whatever size will be recognised.

Canon Tom’s Day Off

Canon Tom tries to take as much of a Friday off as possible after celebrating morning Mass. An emergency contact number will always be available on the answering machine. Thanks.

Registration of all children for First Holy Communion and Confirmation

All parents of children who would be due to celebrate their First Holy Communion or Confirmation are asked to register their child with Canon Tom in writing (email or on paper with a contact detail) before the end of October of this year.

PPC Meeting: there will be a meeting for members of the Parish Pastoral Council on Monday 24th October.

School Events: Thanks to all who supported Friday’s coffee morning and quiz night: both were great successes. Please see St Dominic’s website for details of upcoming events in their ‘news’ and ‘diary’ section, including a list of classes attending Mass on Fridays.

Celebrating 150 Years Plus

This year, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the blessing of the present St Fillan’s Church. The parish is, of course, 223 years old and is one of the oldest established parishes in Scotland. We have a series of events to mark the occasion.

Monday 3rd October 7 pm

Service of reflection and thanksgiving led by Canon Andrew.

Tuesday 1st November 7 pm

Mass of thanksgiving with Bishop Stephen

During November

Masses and services for all the deceased members of the parish and priests who served in St Fillan’s and St Margaret’s.

Sunday 4th December 11 am (Second Sunday of Advent)

Mass celebrated by priests from the Redemptorist Community followed by exposition and Benediction in the afternoon

Monday 5th December 6.30 pm

Service of Reconciliation led by priests from the Redemptorist Community.

Canon Tom would also like to add a few social events like something on or near St Andrew’s Day. If you would like to be involved, please see Canon Tom.

Please pray for

the repose of the souls of

John Reilly, and all the faithful departed.
