A Big Thanks
To Canon Andrew for celebrating the Masses last weekend and ‘minding the shop.’
Social Action Survey
Please consider filling in a survey form, which will help Deacon Chris get an idea about what people are willing to do in terms of joint outreach and social action. Please note that this is a SURVEY, NOT A COMMITMENT: YOU ARE NOT BEING ASKED TO SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING.
St Fillan’s Memorial Hall
Mark Chalmers and his colleagues from Space Solutions are now at an advanced stage of their feasibility study of the parish hall. They have provided a report, proposals, and architectural drawings. They will inform us of costs shortly. Canon Tom proposes that the fabric committee, hall strategy committee, and PPC look carefully at these proposals first. Then we should have an open evening for parishioners to come along and look at what is being suggested, ask questions, and give feedback. This is now a crucial stage for us, and we have a big decision to make. There is no sense whatsoever in simply saying, ‘We must keep our hall’, if no one is willing to step up and run the hall properly. It would be an absolute waste of money, time, and emotional energy to embark on such a project if folk are not willing to be involved in this potentially parish changing project. Canon Tom asks everyone in the parish to pray about this and think very carefully.
Dates for your diary
On Thursday 1st September at 7 pm we shall celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Canon Andrew’s priestly ordination. Please keep the date free.
Please pray for: peace in Ukraine, for refugees, for the Ukrainians who have already arrived in the parish and those who will arrive, and for the repose of the souls of all the faithful departed.
