Everyone is asked to be at St Fillan’s for 9.15 am promptly for departure to Pittenweem. We shall be hosted for a cup of tea etc by the local Episcopal church and then proceed to Mass. Afterwards we can have a walk to Anstruther for fish and chips. A full timetable to follow, once Canon Andrew has been in touch with everyone. There may be a couple of spare seats on the bus.
Confirmations and First Communions
Just a reminder that on the 3rd of June at 6.30 pm (please note slight change to time), Bishop Andrew will be with us to celebrate confirmation. On Saturday 5th June at 11 am, Fr Ronnie from St Mary’s, Kinnoull will be here to celebrate First Communions. Our wonderful tea ladies may need some help – the gents are not excluded! Please see Canon Tom soon, if you want to pitch in.

Conversations in the Spirit
Bishop Andrew is asking parishes to meet during Eastertide to discern a way forward for the Diocese. By Pentecost, he hopes to have the fruits of these discussions so that he might move forward with people and clergy.
With that in mind, Canon Tom proposes the following:
On Mondays after Mass (7.30 pm) on May 19th, and 26th May, parishioners are invited to meet in St Fillan’s to have a conversation in the Spirit focused on the needs of the Diocese. These sessions will last half an hour, so be over by 8 pm.
If you wish to take part but can’t manage Monday evenings, Canon Tom would meet after Sunday 11 am Mass on one of the Sundays for a ‘one-off’ session.
Are you being called to become a Catholic?
If recent events or life’s journey has led you or someone you know to consider becoming a Catholic or to explore the possibilities, please contact Canon Tom now using the above contact details. Canon Tom will talk about this in the weeks to come.
Assisted Dying Bill
As we know, this bill passed its first stage in the Scottish Parliament. It has now gone to stage two where amendments can be made. Please support organisations seeking to make amendments and please don’t give up trying to persuade our MSPs to vote against it. Please check how our MSP voted and continue to ask him to consider the views put to him.
For more information see the organization Right to Life https://righttolife.org.uk/knowledgebase/assisted-suicide-and-euthanasia
Canon Andrew organised a very informative and thought-provoking day for the clergy on the issue and started the conversation on possible pastoral approaches. Please keep engaging.
Around the Diocese
A new youth initiative, called the Dunkeld Youth Association, is being launched in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Dundee during the 6 pm Mass on Sunday 25th May. It is open to the 18–30-year-old age group.
Please pray for the repose of the souls of Teresa McGeary, William Dun Boyle, Mary Hogarth Boyle, Elizabeth Hilton, and all the faithful departed.
And to our visitors, it’s great to see you. Please come back!
